A lot of our work is straight swaps: the same size opening, new joinery. Draughty single glazing out, double glazed aluminium in. When the new windows match the old openings, building consent usually isn’t needed, but talk your project through with your builder or council so you know for sure.
Two ways to fit new joinery
Vantage joinery goes into an existing home in one of two ways.
Replacement windows. The existing joinery comes out entirely, and a new window or door goes in with new framing around it.
Insert windows. A new aluminium window fits inside the existing timber window frame. Vantage puts a typical insert installation at two to three days. It only works where the frames and sills are sound: rot rules it out.
Send us photos of your windows and we’ll talk you through the options.
Getting the sizes right
You can measure your own windows for a quote. Our measuring guide covers it: photos inside and out, the height and width inside each frame, the sill heights, which rooms are bathrooms, ensuites or stairwells, and which windows need to open.
Once you go ahead, a final measure with you and your installer confirms every size before anything is ordered.
Who installs them
We don’t employ installers ourselves, but we work closely with a builder who can install your joinery for you. Ask us when you get your quote.
